Katowice has a fragmented city layout and the wider region has seen huge amounts of heavy industry blot the landscape much of which is still there today. Similar to Ldz, the decline of this heavy industry has seen Katowice suffer economically.

Though that said there is a lot of wealth in the region. Average wages are around the same as those in Warsaw yet property prices slightly lower. The conurbation of Katowice has a large population and a mixed economic base that give it much potential for the future if it can continue to reform.

Katowice still has potential, but a lot of growth has already come out of the market and we believe there will be better opportunities elsewhere in Poland in 2009.
