Guest numbers at luxury hotels up 11% in 2007

Guest numbers at Czech luxury hotels grew by 11 percent year-on-year to 3.46 million in 2007, data from the Czech Statistical Office (CSU) have shown.
Hotel companies in Prague plan to open nearly 20 new luxury facilities within two years to meet the demand. There are 38 five-star and 316 four-star hotels in the Czech Republic.
The number of foreign tourists at luxury hotels grew by 9 percent to 2.9 million last year.
Around 700,000 foreign guests stayed at five-star hotels in 2007. The number of Czech guests at five-star hotels increased by 55 percent to 67,000. At four-star hotels, the number of Czechs grew by 16 percent to 484,000.
